Ex-Interim Body Member, Hepong Phom passes away

Dimapur, March 28 (EMN): Hepong Phom, ex-Interim Body Member (IBM) from Bhumnyu village of Longleng district passed away on Tuesday after a brief illness in Dimapur. He was 102. Late Hepong is survived by his wife, five sons and two daughters. Born on March 23, 1915 Hepong Phom was elected as IBM in 1961 and was a member till 1963 and was also Regional Council Member from 1963 to 1967. The send off program for Late Hepong Phom will be held at his residence at Signal Phom colony Dimapur at 10 am on Wednesday. His mortal remains will be taken to his native village Bhumnyu where he will be laid to rest. Chief minister, Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu and NLA speaker, Dr Imtiwapang Aier – on behalf of the assembly – in separate statements have condoled the death of Phom.
