Dimapur, October 6: The inaugural programme for the last batch training on Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network (eVIN) for Cold Chain Handlers commenced for Mokokchung and Mon districts with 50 participants on October 6 and 7 at Hotel De Oriental Grand, Kohima.
The programme was chaired by UNDP Progaramme Officer, Egumsing Nsarangbe, while a short exhortation was shared by Dr. Limaakum Jamir, Additional Director of Health and Family Welafre. Word of encouragement was delivered by Dr. Visasieü Kire, State Immunisation Officer, followed by vote of thanks by Kingson Kamkara, Senior Project Officer, UNDP Nagaland.
Abhimanyu Saxena, Senior Project Officer – Vaccine Logistics & Cold Chain GAVI Health System Strengthening UNDP from National Office, was also present as an observer.In Nagaland, more than 250 government staff including vaccine store-keepers and cold chain handlers are being trained on mobile and web-based eVIN application. Nearly 150 temperature loggers will be installed at over 130 vaccine stores and cold chain points in all 11 districts for accurate temperature review.
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is currently rolling out an innovative Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network called eVIN across all districts in Nagaland. eVIN aims to support the Government of India’s universal immunization programme by providing real-time information on vaccine stocks and flows, and storage temperatures across all cold chain points in Nagaland.
eVIN is being rolled-out in 211 districts of Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Manipur, Nagaland and Odisha. In doing so, eVIN will support better vaccine logistics management at more than 10,000 cold chain points reaching out to nearly 60 percent of children under the age of two in the country.
