IMPHAL — Manipur's district administrations have launched a series of coordinated eviction drives, targeting illegal encroachments on state land to pave the way for infrastructure development and public utility projects.
An eviction drive was conducted in Thoubal district headquarters, 20 km south of Imphal, on Thursday, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Hannah Kamei, along with district police and Thoubal Municipal Council officials.

The eviction drive targeted areas with illegal government land occupation. DC Hannah Kamei, accompanied by officials, visited eviction sites and stated that a public notification was issued on July 22. She appealed for public cooperation with the initiative.
Similar eviction drives have also been conducted in Manipur’s other districts, including Imphal West and Imphal East, where unauthorised structures on government and municipal lands were dismantled.
In Imphal West, the district administration removed several illegal constructions from public roadsides and drainage areas.
Eviction operations were also reported in Bishnupur and Kangpokpi districts, where the authorities targeted encroachments on government office premises and other areas.
