Within a month after his induction into the NPF-led DAN government, Parliamentary Secretary for Art & Culture, Eshak Konyak, today stressed on the need to have cultural stall in every district head-quarter.
In his maiden address to the staff of the department during his felicitation here, Eshak expressed that Art & Culture is the foremost department which highlights the culture and tradition of the state to the rest of the world. He said every district headquarter should have a cultural stall attached to the Deputy Commissioner’s office so as to display the culture and tradition of the particular district.
He also stated that the present building housing the museum of the department at Bayavü Hill, which displays the culture and heritage of different tribes of the State needed an upgradation.The newly appointed Congress Parliamentary Secretary also encouraged the officers and staff of the department to be sincere towards their duty by regularly attending the office and also being stationed at their own places of posting, especially in the remote areas.
Stating that the negligence faced by the department could be the cause of insincerity on the part of the employees, he called upon the employees to work in cohesion.
“Let us put together the political will and the experience of the employees in order to take the department forward,” he said.
Without naming the districts, Eshak announced that the Art & Culture offices of three districts would also be upgraded soon. The Parliamentary Secretary also asserted to give his best to take the department forward.
Secretary Art & Culture, Angau I Thou, delivering the welcome address, pinched the department staff whether they are doing justice and attending the office regularly. She cautioned that since the government has the policy of ‘No work no pay’, action would be initiated against those regular absentees.
Commenting that art and culture of the Naga people is in the dying form, she said it should be the responsibility of the department to protect and preserve the diminishing Naga culture. She also emphasized that as employees of the Art & Culture department, they need to know the dialect of other tribes in order to come closer and work together as Naga people.
She also assured the Parliamentary Secretary that the employees would pledge to work sincerely with dedication under his dynamic leadership.
Art & Culture Director, Vevo Sapuh, chaired the felicitation programme while folk song was presented by Ao employees.
