DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 9: Parliamentary Secretary of Justice and Law and SIRD, Er. Picto Shohe, advocated values of honesty and discipline and urged children to follow the two principles in all situations to excel in life.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the cultural session of the 10th SBAK (NM) Children Festival which got underway in Rotomi village on the theme “Heroes of Change” on October 8.
Er. Picto emphasised on culture and tradition as important aspects of life for Naga people stating that it reflects our identity and encouraged the gathering to preserve and promote one’s culture. He also spoke about gender equality by drawing attention to the increasing practise of both men and women in performing folk dance together rather than separately.
The chief guest also lauded SBAK (NM) for taking the initiative to organise children’s festival, which he hoped would bring thousands of children closer to God.
“Bringing these children closer to God at a very young age would obviously reap rich dividends in the future,” he added. Er. Picto also talked about the importance of peace for ushering in development. Er. Picto was optimistic that many children attending the programme would also choose to serve God.
Referring to the bible from Colossians 2:7, he urged the children to be rooted in the word of God, live and walk with Him. The chief guest declared the cultural session opened.
Various items were performed by cultural troupes from Khukiye Lukhai, Aghunato Town, UBC Satakha, Shena Old, SBC Naltoqa and SBC Zunheboto.
Around 4000 children are participating in the children festival which started on October 7.
