THE Eastern Naga Students’ Federation once again has made a humble appeal to the Chief Secretary to look into the matter of review of Job Reservation Policy for a separate roster system exclusively for the six backward tribes of Eastern Nagaland seriously and give necessary directives to all the departments to implement the 25% job reservation policy in toto. The Federation also urged the Chief Secretary to direct the departments to create a separate roster system exclusively for the six backward tribes of Eastern Nagaland.
Considering the negative impact of the Job Reservation Policy in the State, particularly the present 200 Point Roster System, on the six backward tribes, the ENSF reminded the Chief Secretary today that in its representation to her Vide No: ENSF/EI/A2-2013 Dated 18th April 2013 it sought review of the Job Reservation Policy for a Separate Roster System to be maintained exclusively for the six backward tribes of Eastern Nagaland. However, the Federation lamented that it is yet to receive any response from the State government on any measures taken so far on the same.
Further, the Federation said it also appealed for maintaining 25% job reservation in all the departments as approved by the State government but this was never addressed nor implemented by the departments in letter and in spirit. “Many departments are going for adhoc and backdoor appointment resulting in loss of opportunity for the weaker section,” ENSF president Shahsha L Menhahu and speaker Mongko NC Chang said in the reminder to the Chief Secretary.
The ENSF also pointed out that it has been brought to its knowledge that most of the departments advertised only limited vacant posts whereby the reservation policy for the backward tribes could not be maintained.
“Whereas, such kind of practices have deprived the deserving students of their Fundamental Rights to Equality of opportunity, which has resulted in a massive negative impact upon the backward tribes in employment sector,” it stated.
