DIMAPUR — The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has condemned the alleged hit-and-run incident reportedly involving an Assam Rifles vehicle in Longleng on October 25 which resulted in the death of two young men.

In a condemnation note, it also denounced the drone attack allegedly carried out by the Indian security forces on a civilian area at Khammoi village (Konyak Naga village) on the evening of October 20.

The ENSF said that the drone strike claimed the lives of a six-year-old child and a young man serving as the joint secretary of the Khammoi Village Students’ Union, while five others sustained serious injuries.

The federation described the assault as “cowardly and indiscriminate”, stating that it was not an accident but a crime that had left the community “shaken and grief-stricken”.

The ENSF stated that the acts appeared to involve the Assam Rifles, “highly regarded as the ‘Friends of the hill people’ who are entrusted with the security and well-being of the people,” but asserted that this incident instead demonstrated “negligence and a total disregard for human life”.

It further described the events as “a gross violation of human rights and a profound betrayal of public trust placed in India’s security forces, undermining the very principles of law and order.”

Expressing solidarity with the bereaved families, the ENSF demanded justice for the victims and accountability from the authorities.
