Eastern Nagaland People's Union Dimapur lauds Neiphiu Rio for prioritising Foothills Road.

DIMAPUR — The Eastern Nagaland People's Union Dimapur (ENPUD) has expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for taking up the Foothills Road on top priority with utmost sincerity and urgency as “People's Road Project.”
In a statement, the ENPUD stated that the Foothills Road will greatly enhance the connectivity between different parts of Nagaland and improve the quality of socio-economic life of the people.
The union appealed to the chief minister to issue the work order for the second phase projects by March 31, 2026, as per the ultimatum served by the Dimapur-based civil society organisations on February 21, 2026, to avoid any confrontations and misunderstanding that may arise due to the non compliance.

It also requested the chief minister to invite the Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) members to the meeting convened on March 31 to discuss the Foothills Road issues as stakeholders in the Foothills Road project since they have been giving immense sacrifice for the road project since 2013.
Further, the ENPUD resolved to extend full support to any steps that the Dimapur-based CSOs may undertake on expiry of the ultimatum served on February 21, 2026.
The union expressed full confidence in the wisdom and sincerity of the chief minister to settle the issue amicably.
The ENPUD comprises of eight tribal units namely Chang Union Dimapur, Eastern Sumi Union Dimapur, Khiamniungan Union Dimapur, Konyak Union Dimapur, Dimapur Phom Union,Sangtam Union Dimapur, Tikhir Union Dimapur and Yimkhiung Union Dimapur.
