Eastern Nagaland People's Organisation and Western Sümi Students' Union condemn the Chümoukedima IED blast and call for a thorough investigation.
DIMAPUR — The Eastern Nagaland People's Organisation (ENPO) and the Western Sümi Students' Union (WSSU) have condemned the suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in Chümoukedima that claimed the life of an Assam Rifles personnel and left several others injured.
ENPO: In a press communiqué issued on Thursday, ENPO expressed deep sorrow and concern over the incident, stating that it unequivocally condemns all acts of violence that threaten the peace, security, and well-being of the people.
According to the organisation, such incidents deepen suffering, create fear among citizens, and hinder the collective aspiration for a peaceful and prosperous future.
ENPO stated that since declaring eastern Nagaland a Peace Zone, it has remained committed to fostering peace, harmony, and mutual understanding within its jurisdiction. It added that the values of peace must transcend geographical boundaries, saying that lasting peace is indivisible and that the safety and stability of every part of Nagaland are essential for the well-being of all its people.
The organisation appealed to every section of Naga society to continue nurturing the spirit of unity, reconciliation, and mutual respect. It stated that differences of opinion should always be addressed through peaceful dialogue and democratic means, adding that the people have a shared responsibility to ensure that future generations inherit a land defined by hope, justice, and lasting peace.

The organisation extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of the deceased Assam Rifles personnel and conveyed its prayers for the speedy recovery of those injured. It also expressed confidence that the competent authorities would conduct a fair and thorough investigation and take appropriate action in accordance with the law.
Further, ENPO appealed to all citizens to remain calm, exercise restraint, and continue upholding the values of peace, compassion, and harmony.
WSSU: The Western Sümi Students' Union (WSSU) has expressed shock and condemned the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast on the July 13 afternoon in Chümoukedima which claimed the life of an Assam Rifles personnel and left several others seriously injured.
The union, in a press release, stated that such a heinous act is a direct attack on the peace and tranquillity of the state.
"Such a heinous act is a direct attack on the hard-earned peace and tranquillity of the state. This senseless act of violence not only targets the security forces but also poses a grave threat to innocent civilians. The incident has instilled fear and anxiety among the public, particularly among students and other commuters who travel on this route daily, raising serious concerns about their safety and security," the union stated.
The union extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of the deceased and prayed that the Almighty grants them strength, comfort, and solace. The WSSU also wished a speedy and complete recovery to all those who sustained injuries in the incident.
Further, the union appealed to the state administration and the security forces to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation to ensure that those responsible are swiftly identified and brought to justice. It added that the perpetrators of this act must be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law so that such incidents do not recur.
