Dimapur, Jan. 4: After the Naga Hoho virtually washed its hand off, the ENPO has also decided to leave it ‘to the understanding and responsibility of the respective tribes: Chang, Khiamniungan, Konyak, Phom, Sangtam and Yimchunger’ in the matter of conducting municipal and town councils elections in ENPO areas. A press release from the ENPO informed that a resolution to this effect was taken at an emergency consultation meeting of ENPO held at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur on Wednesday. Also, in reference to the chief minister’s response to its query earlier, the ENPO stated it would not be “held responsible in any manner in the event of infringement upon Article 371(A) of the Indian Constitution by holding Nagaland ULBs election with reservation of seats for women under Nagaland Municipal (Third Amendment) Act 2016 now and in the future.”
