ENPO-ENLU meeting held with eyes on January 15 tripartite talks

DIMAPUR — The Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) had a consultative meeting with members of the Eastern Nagaland Legislator’s Union (ENLU) at Hotel Saramati in Dimapur on Sunday, January 12.

The meeting was attended by frontal organisations from the six ENPO districts, along with the study team, while the ENLU was represented by the Minister of Forest, Environment & Climate Change Minister, and Village Guards, CL John, MLA P Longon, MLA B Bangtick Phom, and MLA Y Lima Onen Chang.
The closed-door discussion lasted for approximately three hours.
After the meeting, the president of ENPO, A Chingmak Chang, said that their discussions centred on the previous tripartite talks held in New Delhi on December 13, 2024, featuring the officials of ENPO, the Ministry of Home Affairs committee led by the Home Secretary, and representatives of the government of Nagaland.
He added that the meeting also deliberated on how to go about it in the future.
According to him, such meetings will be held periodically as they continue negotiations with the central government and added that the primary purpose of this kind of meeting is to ensure a unified voice when engaging with the central government.
The ENPO president maintained that Sunday’s meeting did not have any specific agenda or resolution but served as a briefing of the previous tripartite talks.
He expressed hope that the government of India is serious and committed to ensuring executive, legislative, and financial autonomy, vis-à-vis the Frontier Nagaland Territory issue.
He mentioned that the next round of tripartite talks will be held in Nagaland on January 15.
