Dimapur July 9 : The Eastern Naga People’s Organization (ENPO) has joined its constituents in censuring a group calling itself the “Sovereign Republic of Freeland” (SRF). Likewise, no ‘un-mandated revolutionary’ groups would be allowed formation in the eastern areas, the eastern leaderships have declared.
Following a spate of outrage and warnings from community organizations, the ‘SRF Mon unit’ is informed to have been dissolved Saturday.
The ENPO issued a press release on Saturday stating a total ban on said group.
The ENPO was in a joint meeting with its tribal constituents and frontal organizations such as the ENGBU, the ENWO and the ENSF “in presence of the so-called Sovereign Republic of Freeland,” the ENPO stated. The meeting was conducted on July 7 at Tuensang town. The meeting extracted a number of resolutions. Basing on a ‘2010 resolution and subsequent re-affirmation on February 2016 at Tuensang,’ the ENPO has reiterated a ban on the so-called “Sovereign Republic of Freeland” in totality within the ENPO’s jurisdiction.
“Further, the banned SRF members shall continue to work for the people of eastern Nagaland under the guidance/direction of their respective tribe Hoho,” the first resolution read.
Second: The organizations have resolved to ‘dismantle any SRF based establishment/office’ within ENPO jurisdiction. “In this regard, the house resolved to empower ENSF to immediately take further course of action on the same if any.”
The third resolution stated that forming any “un-mandated organization/revolutionary group” within eastern Nagaland “shall not be allowed under any circumstances.”“Basing on Longleng resolution of 29th September 2005 and in principle of the same, the house further resolved that, there should not be any form of threat, intimidation to the ENPO officials, tribal hoho officials, frontal organization official and the banned SRF member aftermath the adoption of the above resolutions, the fourth read.
The organizations have also decided to “fully endorse respective federating tribal units for strict implementation of the above resolutions at the grass root level.”
Besides stated resolutions, the ENPO declared, the community leadership has decided that “any press statement/decisions concerning the people and land of eastern Nagaland in general by any organization(s) should always be consulted with the apex body, ENPO.”
‘Mon unit’ of SRF dissolved
Another note on Saturday has informed that the ‘Mon unit’ of the SRF had been ‘dissolved’ effective from Thursday, July 7.
“An emergency meeting to this effect, held at the Konyak Union's office in Mon headquarter, was attended by all its frontal organizations, including the KU, KSU and KNSK. A letter of dissolution was submitted by its main activist Mr. Hejei Konyak, who presented himself, in person, along with its executive members. He also surrendered documents, containing list of SRF memberships and ID cards, numbering around 100 recruits,” the note stated.
“It may be recalled that the activists have surrendered 'unconditionally' on 5th July meeting before the Konyak Union. Speaking at the meeting, the president of the Konyak Union, Mr S Manlip Konyak, welcomed their resolution to dissolve their operatives in the district and called upon SRF activists across eastern Nagaland to follow their lead.”
Also, the ‘sitting vice-president of the Konyak Union, Mr. AM Kaiba Konyak, was stated to have voluntarily resigned following a revelation that he was the “projector director” of the SRF, according to documents said to have been produced by the ‘surrendered activists.’
