Eastern Naga National Workers Union appeals for peace and reconciliation between Yimkhiung and Tikhir tribes following recent conflict
DIMAPUR — The Eastern Naga National Workers Union (ENNWU), NSCN/GPRN, has expressed deep concern over the recent conflict between the Yimkhiung and Tikhir tribes, appealing to both sides to remain calm, exercise restraint, and refrain from any actions that may further escalate tensions.
In a press release, the union stated that violence, retaliation, and confrontation can only deepen divisions and create unnecessary suffering among the people. It urged all concerned individuals, leaders, and communities to approach the situation with wisdom, patience, and a spirit of mutual understanding.
The ENNWU appealed to the leaders, elders, civil society organisations, and citizens of both tribes to come forward and work collectively towards an immediate and peaceful resolution of the conflict. It maintained that dialogue, mutual respect, and reconciliation must be given priority over hostility and confrontation.

Pointing out that both the Yimkhiung and Tikhir tribes share a common identity as part of the Naga family, the union stated that shared history, culture, traditions, and aspirations should unite rather than divide the communities. It further urged the public not to spread rumours, misinformation, or inflammatory statements that could provoke further misunderstanding and hostility.
Calling upon both tribes to uphold the values of brotherhood, unity, forgiveness, and peaceful coexistence, the union reminded that the loss of peace affects not only the present generation but also future generations.
It appealed to all concerned to set aside differences, exercise maturity, and work towards restoring lasting peace and trust between the Yimkhiung and Tikhir tribes, stating that peace is a collective responsibility and reconciliation is the path towards a stronger, united, and harmonious society.
