Dimapur, May 11 (EMN): The office of the chief medical officer, Peren, conducted its second round of enforcement drive in Ahthibung town on May 2 to ensure regulation of law with regard to prohibition of sale of tobacco within 100 metre radius of educational institutions and other offences under COPTA Act 2003.
A total of seven shops within the area were penalised with fine for direct and indirect sale of tobacco products and depictions of specified health warnings on tobacco product packages under Section 7.
The team that initiated the drive included Dr. Sabino, nodal officer NTCP, social workers, data entry operator, Peren (PDTCCP), police personnel from police station Ahthibung, dobashis and chairman of Ahthibung Students’ Union.
