Dimapur, Jan. 24: The Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) has appealed to all heads of colleges, teachers (Assistant Professor) and non-teaching staff posted within the eastern Nagaland to be at their respective place of postings with commencement of the academic year.
Citing numerous complaints that the staff was only drawing salary without performing their duties, the Union, in a press statement, appealed the teachers concerned to discharge their assigned duties regularly.
The Union also appealed those teachers (Assistant professor) and staff on deputation or attached, to re-think the purpose of their appointment. The union was surprised to observed many of the teachers (Assistant Professor) misusing the opportunity.
Meanwhile, the Union requested politicians to appoint new teachers as many of the colleges are functioning without sufficient teachers.
The Union also took note of the practice of employing proxy teachers by many teachers/ assistant professors posted in eastern Nagaland. It strongly felt that any person failing to discharge their duty should resign on moral ground and give opportunity to unemployed youth.
The ENCSU also appealed the government and the department concerned to look after the infrastructure of the colleges in eastern Nagaland and give equal importance to all the colleges of the state irrespective of the geographical location.
Stating that only constructing the building alone does not make an institution, ENCSU said it requires basic infrastructure to make real educational institutions.
The ENCSU further warned to take its own course of action if the government fails to protect and safeguard the rights of the students’ community.
