Dimapur, March 28 (EMN): The Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) has asked the Nagaland government to make public the details of the report of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) concerning the controversial pre-matriculation scholarship. The report is said to have been submitted to the state government through the chief secretary on Jan. 31 2018.
The ENCSU issued a press release appended by its president M Longre Chang, and General Secretary Wangnei C Jessuhu. The organisation accused the state government and the department of Higher Education of misusing government funds.
The organisation has demanded to know why the state’s government ‘was so adamant to make the clear SIT report to public when the SIT has submitted its report as asked and empowered by the previous cabinet.’
“There’s no reason for setting up of SIT or any other investigation team if it’s report are to keep confined and takes no action as required by their report. And how could general Naga students trust the government if there’s nothing prove of SIT report which it is set by the state government,” the ENCSU’s statement wondered. While affirming to ‘protect the interest of students’ community,’ the ENCSU has asked the government to punish those involved in the alleged misuse of the post-matriculation scholarship.
