Dimapur, Aug. 23: Dimapur Ao Baptist Arogo (DABA) and Emporium Training and Consultancy Pvt. Ltd (ETCPL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a period of three years on Thur. Aug. 23 with an emphasis on the empowerment of youths in line with employment.
The MoU signed in the presence of DABA Care Ministry members and ETCPL operations manager Anirbhan Mukherjee at the DABA office will see Emporium Skill Training Institute Dimapur provide placement linked skill development training for the unemployed Ao community youths in the aviation and hospitality sectors.
The duration of the training will be for three months and the students will be trained for Cabin Crew/Airhostess, Airport Management, Five Star Hotel Management and Cruiseline Management job roles, it was informed.
As per the MoU, interested Ao community candidates who are members of DABA will be jointly screened by the authorities from DABA and Emporium on Monday Aug. 27 and the selected candidates will get the privilege to undergo free of cost placement linked skill training at Emporium Skill Training Centre sponsored by DABA.
DABA Associate Pastor and member of Care Ministry Rev. Lima Jamir said DABA will be sponsoring 30 candidates exclusively for DABA members for the first batch and both DABA and ETCPL will jointly target to skill and provide employment to these candidates.
During an interaction, the Reverend stressed on the unemployment issue in the state and pointed out that it was the perception of Naga society for the state govt. to provide employment. Asserting govt. job was not the only scope that one should look for employment, Jamir opined that churches should play a vital role in addressing such issue.
DABA Care Ministry has six members and the ministry provides short term skill development trainings to youths of DABA members at least for a period of three months. The church has so far trained around 400 members of DABA sponsored by the church,said Jamir.
ETCPL operations manager Mukherjee who was accompanied by the ETCPL Dimapur centre director Temjenkala Aier said ETCPL was committed with state govt and DABA and with the signing of MoU, it will be the accountability of the training centre that the trainees are provided employment.
DABA Care Ministry member S. Moatemsu Walling observed that in the state people has a concept that the church should confine within the church and consequently church fail to address other social issues.
He articulated that church plays a greater role in addressing social issues and such initiative should be practised by other churches as well.
