Employee at Nagaland Raj Bhavan tests positive for Covid-19

Kohima, Aug. 3 (EMN): An employee at Nagaland Raj Bhavan in Kohima was detected with Covid-19 on Monday afternoon, the result of which was confirmed at the BSL-3 laboratory in Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK), Covid-19 hospital.

A source from the hospital informed that the person was admitted to Covid-19 care centre at Meriema in Kohima thereafter.

Sources informed that the patient resides at TCP Gate, which falls under the jurisdiction of New Market colony.

Following the report, the colony's Covid-19 committee, including New Market Youth Organisation (NMYO) and New Market Area Panchayat, restricted movement in the area before the government authorities arrived.

The district administration is yet to issue any order in this regard till the time of filing of this report.

Meanwhile, sources informed this newspaper that out of 86 samples from the Raj Bhavan being tested for the virus, 84 returned negative; one was positive, while the result of one sample is awaited.

It was learnt that the testing of Raj Bhavan employees was necessitated by the detection of Covid-19 cases among VIPs, their security personnel and other staff.
