Dimapur, August 28 (EMN): The Nagaland Electrical Contractors Union has on Monday has voiced out against some government departments who it alleged are issuing electrification contracts works without routing it through the Department of Power.
A press statement from the union released through its President Kevichülie Chadi and General Secretary Shikato Rotokha stated that the power department is the lone competent authority in the state to approve technical estimates and sanctions.
The union therefore reiterated that it still stands by its earlier resolutions on the matter and reminded the government and the public regarding it.
The union stated that the "unauthorized parties/individuals" shall not be allowed to undertake any electrical installation work in the state of Nagaland under any circumstances and Test Certificate will not be issued if the work is not executed through registered electrical contractors of Nagaland state.
That, any registered contractor found "landing/leasing" out of their contractor’s writing pad to unauthorized person or party will be dealt with as per the resolution of the union and the defaulters shall be forwarded to the appropriate authority for cancellation license.
The union also requested all the authorities and the consumers to insist on the contractor’s license before leasing out electrification works and to also check for validity, by checking the yearly done by the Chief Electrical Inspectorate office.
It also appealed to the electrical inspectorate office to thoroughly cross check the capacity of the concerned firm and also the technicalities involved before issuing clearances for sub-stations, HT & LT lines installations.
It further reminded all regarding the various sections of the Indian Electricity Rules & Act and also appealed to the department not to energize any electrical installation work that is being carried out in contravention.
