Dimapur, Jan. 19: Two persons who were allegedly using a battery-powered device to fish in Intanki forest have been caught and penalized by the authorities of the Intanki National Park.
The authorities issued a press release on Thursday informing about the incident.
On January 16, Intanki National Park’s Forest Protection Force personnel were patrolling, two persons were apprehended. “They were found fishing with battery / inverter in different locations along the Mangleu River bordering the Intanki National Park. The offenders were released on bond agreement not to commit the same offence again while all the articles were confiscated,” the authorities stated.
The persons were identified as one Monos of Jalukieram village and Azang of Lilen village, the press release stated.
The authorities have declared that “total check from entering inside the national park without permission with valid
reasons from the concerned higher authorities will be the topmost priority of the protection force.”
In order to cover the entire area of the park while intensifying patrolling duties, the press release stated, the two ranges, namely ‘A’ and ‘B,’ are “bifurcated along with its protection force.”
The statement also stated that that in spite of imposition of restriction–an order was released in the local papers–information about “secret entry for hunting, fishing are being noticed.” Due to this, more protection forces are being deployed to intensify daily patrolling “to prevent and apprehend the culprit,” the press release stated.
The Intanki National Park authority has cautioned the public in general and fringe villagers in particular to comply with the restriction.
“The protection force on patrolling duties is given order up to the extent of shooting if found committing such crime inside the national park. Whosoever undermines this warning is doing so at their own risk for which offenders will be self responsible,” the press release added.
