Dimapur, Sep.1 (EMN): The chief electoral officer (CEO) of Nagaland, Abhijit Sinha, has inaugurated the Electors Verification Programme, on September 1 in Kohima.
The government publicity agency, the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR), gave updates to the media on Sunday informing about the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Sinha said that the verification programme was a campaign that has been launched across the country from September 1 and to go on till the 15th of October 2019 to educate and mobilize citizens, stakeholders and electors to check their electors’ details in the electoral roll and do necessary corrections, if any.
They can do so by visiting voters’ ‘facilitation centres,’ common service centres (CSCs) or online by visiting the Election Commission’s website. They can also do so by downloading a mobile app and uploading a scanned identification card as proof for one’s correct details, the IPR reported.
The electoral official said that the programme was to reach out to all the electors in the state and to “motivate” them to check their electoral details and correct it, if any, the updates stated.
Additional CEO Moa Aier also spoke during the programme. He said that one can replace or update the old passport on the EPIC for free, by uploading it through the mobile app or the electoral website, with scanned identification cards as proof during the Electors Verification Programme.
Aier added that citizens can delete the enrolment of their expired kin from the electoral roll through online, during this programme, or report it to the election office for deletion, the IPR stated.
Electors may verify their details through the ‘Voter helpline’ mobile app, NVSP website, or by visiting the common service centres or the ‘voter facilitation centres’ at the ERO office. Persons with disability may call the voter helpline 1950 seeking assistance, the IPR stated.
