PANAJI — Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar on Thursday said India's electoral process is subjected to concurrent scrutiny by political parties and candidates.
Addressing a press conference in Margao on the second day of his two-day visit to Goa, Kumar said children took part in an electoral awareness programme here and were given an opportunity to understand how polling and counting are conducted.
"The children also had an opportunity to see how the polling takes place, how the counting takes place," Kumar said.
He said the children were also explained how electoral rolls are concurrently audited by political parties through their booth-level agents.
"Polling and counting are concurrently audited by the candidates and political parties," Kumar said, explaining various levels of scrutiny involved in the electoral process.

He also addressed various Electoral Literacy Clubs in Margao during the day.
Kumar praised the coastal state for its natural beauty, heritage and people.
"It was a real pleasure to be in Goa, its wonderful beaches, heritage sites, its food, and above all, wonderful people," he said.
During his visit, Kumar interacted with Booth Level Officers and participated in programmes related to electoral literacy and the ECINET initiative.
