The establishment of the Chief Electoral Officer of Nagaland has convened a meeting with a number of state nongovernmental organizations to discuss the Systematic Voters’ Education & Electoral Participation (SVEEP) on April 1.
The meeting is scheduled to be conducted at Hotel Japfu at 11:00 AM. The meeting has been convened in connection with the Election Commission of India’s recently declared National Electoral Roll Purification, 2016 program. The organizations or their leaders the department has invited are the presidents of the Naga Hoho, Nagaland Baptist Churches Council, Catholic Association of Nagaland,Nagaland Christian Revival Churches Council, Pentecostal Church, Naga Mothers’ Association, Naga Students’ Federation, Eastern Naga People Organization, Eastern Naga Students’ Federation, Eastern Naga Women Organization, and Naga Peoples’ Movement for Human Rights; Yanpfuo Kikon, founder of local Facebook group the Naga Blog, and Hekani of Youth Net.
The NERP, 2016 is an intensive drive which was launched on 1st March, 2016 and is to be completed on or before 31st August, 2016. The meeting shall deliberate on issues pertaining to this drive with the main objective being, to improve the health of the Electoral Rolls (ER) and to rationalize the Polling Stations (PSs) boundaries and location. NERP, 2016 will also include enrolment of all eligible citizens and removal of repeated and multiple entries; entries of dead, shifted & absent voters, correction of errors in EPIC and removal of other data errors. During this drive, repeat images will also be corrected, missing photographs will be collected; poor quality of images will be replaced by good quality photographs.
All the members have been requested to cooperate and attend the meeting positively, with highlights of any action taken, if any, since the last meeting and Action Plan for the current purification drive. Each group may be represented by one or up to two members.
