- DIMAPUR — As part
of his three-day official visit to Nagaland, Principal Secretary of the
Election Commission of India (ECI), NT Bhutia, on Saturday visited some polling
stations in Dimapur and Chümoukedima districts.
- On Saturday, the principal secretary visited some polling
stations in Dimapur I and II assembly constituencies and held discussions with
the deputy commissioner and district election officer regarding election
arrangements and the role of BLOs.
- Bhutia reviewed the election preparedness and interacted
with booth level officers (BLOs) in Dimapur district.

- BLOs assigned to the respective polling stations were
present and interacted with the visiting officer.
- The ECI official also had an interaction with BLOs, DC&
DEO of Chümoukedima at DC’s conference hall.
- During the interaction, the officials from Chümoukedima and
Niuland districts deliberated the matters and problem faced during the conduct
of elections, especially absence of DEO and suggested to create a separate DEO
in Niuland district for smooth functioning during election. Further, they also
highlighted on limited infrastructure, and manpower.
- In response, Bhutia urged the officers to plan and submit
their requirements to the Commission. He assured them that he would address their
concerns and work with the Commission to enhance the electoral process within
the existing legal framework.

- During his visit to Ghaspani-I and Ghaspani-II polling
stations, he stressed thorough voter list updates and inclusion of all eligible
voters. He urged officers to ensure accurate voter lists and include all
eligible voters.
- Additionally, the ECI official evaluated the available
facilities and addressed concerns raised by the officers.
