Dimapur, July 22 (EMN): The 82-year-old patient, who is currently undergoing treatment at Covid-19 hospital Dimapur after being tested positive for the virus last week, is said to be “critical with unstable blood pressure yet other vitals are maintained,” according to a health official.
According to an update issued by DPRO Dimapur on Wednesday, “the patient has a typical Covid lung picture with respiratory distress and is on ventilator support”, and treatment protocol is being followed.
“The patient is being monitored by a medical team comprising of one doctor 2 nurses and 2 attendants on 8 hourly rotation basis,” MS Dimapur Dr. Kasheto informed, while seeking prayer support from the public for speedy recovery of the patient.
The elderly patient was initially tested Covid-19 positive by TrueNat on July 18 at Eden Medical Centre (EMC), Dimapur before the case was confirmed on RT-PCR, after which the patient was admitted in the intensive care unit (ICU) at Covid-19 hospital Dimapur on July 19 at 12.40 pm.

The update informed that the patient has co-morbid conditions, a diabetic with past history of open heart surgery and pulmonary tuberculosis. The patient was treated at Shamrock Hospital on July 16; at Nikos Hospital on July 17; and then admitted in the ICU at EMC.
The ICU block of EMC and the ICU as well as emergency ward of Nikos Hospital were subsequently sealed as a precautionary measure following the detection of the patient with Covid-19.
