- DIMAPUR — Eight
athletes from Nagaland have been selected to represent India in the Men’s 680
kg category at the Tug of War Outdoor World Championships, scheduled to be held
in Nottingham, England, from September 4 to the 7th.
- According to an update, the selection trials took place on
June 11 and 12 at the Assam Rifles Ground in Kohima under the supervision of
the Tug of War Federation of India (TWFI).
- The selected players are Vekuto Curhah, Rukuneyi Sapuh,
Serayi Tetseo, Kuluvezo Soho, Khrukuto Swuro, Vetsuseto Shijoh, Melevo Rose,
and Huluyi D Vadeo. Their participation is contingent upon the submission of
valid passports and sponsorship amount, along with at least 75 per cent
attendance in the mandatory training camp in August.

- A 15-day training camp will be organised in Kohima, where
the team will train under the national coach. TWFI has urged the selected
athletes to apply for passports and visas without delay, as the host federation
in England requires passport numbers to issue invitation letters for visa
processing. All documents must be submitted by July 1.
- TWFI has also advised that boots be arranged in advance,
with vendor details already shared with the state association.
