DIMAPUR — Multiple educational institutions across Nagaland organised various academic events on Thursday.
Mount Mary College: In Chümoukedima, Mount Mary College celebrated graduation day at the Yashipokla Memorial Hall, honouring the graduating batches of 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026.
The keynote address was delivered by Sharingain Longkumer, Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly. Acknowledging the role of parents, guardians, and teachers in shaping the lives of young people, he encouraged graduates to take pride in their accomplishments while preparing themselves for the challenges and opportunities ahead.
Describing the graduates as future entrepreneurs, policymakers, artists, administrators, and change makers, Longkumer stressed the importance of continuous learning, adaptability, and life skills in an increasingly competitive world.
He urged them to strengthen their employability, management, and entrepreneurial skills, noting that true success is measured not merely by academic qualifications or career achievements but by the positive impact one makes in society.
Earlier, delivering the welcome address, Dr. C Teeya Imsong, Managing Director of Mount Mary College, encouraged the graduates to choose their associations wisely. He also highlighted several new initiatives of the college, including international collaborations with five universities in South Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Ghana, the New Generation Service Exchange programme, and enhanced "Earn While You Learn" opportunities for students.

MGM Higher Secondary School: In Dimapur, MGM Higher Secondary School felicitated its HSLC and HSSLC Examination 2026 rank holders at a special programme held at the school assembly ground.
The event was organised to honour the outstanding achievements of Aman Kumar, HSLC state topper and subject topper in Social Science, Hindi, and FIT, and Amina Begum, who secured the 5th rank in the HSSLC Science stream and emerged as the subject topper in Physics and Hindi.
Addressing the gathering, Vice President Giju George congratulated the rank holders and commended their determination and discipline.
Highlighting the broader purpose of education, he said that true learning involves character formation, values, and responsible citizenship alongside academic success.
Principal Reji Abraham, while congratulating the students, stressed that success is built on self-belief, discipline, confidence, and consistent hard work. He also wished the outgoing vice president success in his future endeavours and thanked him for his valuable contributions to the institution.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Headmaster Biswajit Paul lauded the dedication, perseverance, and hard work of the rank holders, stating that their achievements reflected not only their personal commitment but also the collective efforts of parents, teachers, and the school management in fostering academic excellence.
Kohima College: Kohima College organised an orientation programme for newly admitted first-semester BA and B.Com students at the college courtyard, marking the beginning of the academic session under the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP).
According to an update, delivering the principal's address, Dr. Vitsosie Vupru informed the gathering that the college had received around 1,300 applications for admission this academic session, of which only about 800 students were selected.
Encouraging the students to make the most of their college experience, the principal urged them to remain curious, ask questions, and actively participate in the activities organised by the college.
A session on college rules and regulations was conducted by Sungjeminla, Associate Professor and Convenor of the Students' Welfare Committee. She highlighted the importance of discipline, academic integrity, and responsible conduct within the campus community.
