KOHIMA, APRIL 12
The 111 protesting candidates who were selected as secondary teachers under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) Nagaland decided to call off their agitation Tuesday evening after the minister for School Education, Yitachu reportedly intervened in the matter earlier in the day. The aggrieved candidates launched an indefinite protest on April 8 demanding their appointment orders which were allegedly overdue.
The candidates today informed that they met the Education minister and the Chief Secretary who assured them that the appointments will be done within the current month.
The minister is said to have written to the RMSA mission director directing him to issue the appointment orders of the “111 graduate teachers waiting list against the post of Headmaster under RMSA post creation” within the month of April 2016 without further delay.
As a result, the candidates said they are suspending their agitation till the April 30. However, they informed that in the event there is no positive outcome within the stipulated date, their agitation will resume.
Meanwhile, the candidates acknowledged the Naga Students’ Federation, All Nagaland College Students’ Union, ACAUT and their well wishers for their support towards the cause of the aggrieved candidates.
Mention may be made here that the RMSA mission director had earlier clarified that though the RMSA is the appointing authority for the recruitment of the 111 selected candidates, the approval of the education department is needed before issuing appointment orders as these candidates are to go to schools under the purview of the department for their posting.
