
Salhoutuonuo Khruse along with the leaders and officials of
Chakhroma Students’ Union after unveiling the monolith in Tseipama village on
Saturday.
- KOHIMA — Elaborating
that education is the key to bring about transformation in the society, the
minister of Women Resource Development and Horticulture, Salhoutuonuo Kruse,
impressed upon the students to acquire right knowledge and skills with right
mindset and not be complacent with mere degree.
- She was addressing the students during the 40th general
conference of Chakhroma Students’ Union (CSU) on Saturday in Tseipama village.
The two-day conference, held on the theme "Transforming challenges into
opportunities," is being hosted by Tsiepama Students' Union.
- She reminded that people today are living in a world that is
changing rapidly with challenges like unemployment and environmental
degradation. In this regard, she stressed the need to preserve the rich
cultural heritage in a fast-modernising world.
- She asserted that all those challenges demand that they
prepare themselves with knowledge, skills and resilience.
- She also reminded the students that they hold the key to the
future not just for themselves but for the society as a whole. She thus advised
the students to learn from the forefathers, who built and preserved their
identity despite hardships.
- Stating that forefathers transformed the challenges of
survival into an opportunity to create a strong and united people, she
therefore said it is their turn to rise and shape the future by turning
obstacles into stepping stones.
- Stressing on the power of education, the minister stated
that it holds the key to bring about transformation in the society.
- “Along with degrees, the students should also get knowledge,
skills and the right mindset,” she reiterated. She also urged to students to
embrace learning beyond the classroom and explore new technologies in the
present time.
- In regard to jobs, she suggested the students to not only
focus on government jobs but also take up entrepreneurship, agriculture,
horticulture, tourism, citing that they should push towards self-reliance and
create opportunities.
