
EM Patton along with other dignitaries after unveiling the
monolith during the 1st general conference of Auching Village Students' Union
on December 27.
- DIMAPUR — The
commissioner and secretary of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, EM
Patton, has described education as a powerful tool to bring prosperity to an
individual, communities and societies as a whole saying that education unlock the
potential of individuals and societies and lay foundation upon which prosperity
is built.
- He stated this during the 1st general conference of Auching
Village Students' Union (AVSU) under Longleng district, which was held from
December 27 to the 29th on the theme "Prosperity through education."
Patton, who was the special guest, stated that education has the power to
transform life of a person from poverty to prosperity, from ignorance to
knowledge and from dependence to independence.
- He stated that education could give people the skills and
knowledge they need to get better jobs, start their own business and improve
their living standards.
- He added that educated communities are more prosperous, more
peaceful, more stable and are better equipped to deal with the challenges of
the modern world. He, therefore, stated that education is not just a pathway to
personal success but a tool for societal progress and prosperity.
- “When there is unity, there is blessings and prosperity. So
let us start rebuilding our society from within our family," Patton said
and urged the students to be humble while venturing out and to remain united
wherever they are.
- He further made a clarion called to the student community to
rebuild the society so as to regain age-old societal relations, which has been
replaced by hatred, jealousy and misdeeds.
- Dr. Y Nuklu Phom, chairman and team leader of Lemsachenlok
and the speaker, urged upon the younger generation to retrospect on the success
and failures.
- “Unless we retrospect on the success and mistakes of the
past, it won't be possible to take the right step to march ahead in achieving
the goals in life,” Nuklu said.
