Dimapur, March 8 (EMN): First of its kind to promote Hindi language in the state, directorate of school education (Hindi section), conducted a state level essay writing on the topic “Hindi sikhane se labh” and singing competition (in Hindi) for the students of GHS/ GHSS on March 7 in its conference hall, Kohima, sponsored by Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), Nagaland.
In the essay writing, Nokenkala from GHSS Mayangnokcha, Mokokchung district, won the first prize, while Khozelu Veswuh from Phek district and Jyoti Pradhan from GHS Sechu Zubza in Kohima district won the second and third prizes.
In the singing competition, Limrila from GMS, P Khel in Kohima district won the first prize, while Tekasangla from GHS Longjang in Mokokchung district and Ringlik from GHS Dhansiripar in Dimapur district won the second and third prizes. Consolation prizes were given to all the participants to instil enthusiasm among the students.
Delivering a short speech, RMSA mission director, Limawabang advised the gathering not to neglect Hindi as it is an official/ national language of India. He added that more of such programmes would be organised to propagate Hindi.
While emphasising on learning other languages, he advised not to neglect one’s own mother tongue. He expressed happiness to find the interest students’ community of Nagaland have for Hindi.
Director of school education, Wonthungo Tsopoe, was impressed that most of the participants were girls. Stating that girls are prospering in every field in this new era, he advised them not to forget the benefits of learning Hindi.
Pointing out that students of Nagaland are equally talented like other regions of the country, Tsopoe suggested that they should be motivated, encouraged, and guided properly. He added that singing is one mode of learning language.
He further encouraged the teaching community and students to work hand in hand so as to achieve greater heights. He concluded by stating that his department is giving priority on Hindi education in the state.
Earlier, 80 best performers from GHS/GHSS were selected to participate at district level competitions from every district. Those who secured the 1st position in both the categories from 11 districts were invited for the state level competition.
Competition and prize distribution programme was conducted by BP Philip, assistant director (H) SE, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Zakienei Khoubve, deputy director (H) SE.
