Kohima, June 23 (EMN): Rank holders of HSSLC examinations 2020 from Government Higher Secondary Schools (GHSS) namely Abuina from GHSS, Jotsoma, and Neimhelo-ü Lasuh from Rüzhükhrie GHSS, who both secured 10th rank in Arts and Commerce streams respectively, were felicitated with merit certificate and cash from the Education department on Tuesday.
The merit certificate and cash awards were given away by the advisor of School Education, KT Sükhalu, at Morung conference hall, Directorate of School Education.
Sharing words of encouragement to the two rank holders, Principal Secretary of School Education, Menukhol John, said that their journey has just begun and “it is a journey they started well.”
“Take one step at a time and stick to whatever your dreams are, dream big and keep on chasing it,” he advised the rank holders.
Principal Director of School Education, Shanavas C, also advised them not to be over confident but to always be humble and take the felicitation as a motivation and inspiration. He also encouraged them to inspire other students stating that only then “your success will have actual meaning.”
“There is no short cut to success and there is no substitute for hard work,” he added.
Abuina from GHSS Jotsoma shared that to be on the merit list was neither so easy nor too difficult for her. “I just had to overcome my laziness and devote most of my time inside my books, and I don’t consider myself better than others, I had to work hard to get here,” she said.
She also shared that there were times when she had to ‘sacrifice her sleep and not regret later.’ Abuina said she derives motivation from the quotation, “When I do my best, God will do the rest.”
Lasuh from RGHSS shared that she failed to secure in HSLC top list by a few marks. Even though she felt dejected, Lasuh said she decided to work harder in the next exam.
“I was not satisfied enough with my exam but the result shocked me,” Lasuh said adding it was like a dream.
