Dimapur, March 15 (EMN): In a world of turbulence and one where everything is changing, education is the only way to instilling in people the capacity of deliberation, comprehension and interpretation, students of a school in Dimapur were told recently.
Emphasising on education, Commissioner of Dimapur police Limasunep Jamir said that the modern generation was a generation of ‘creative destruction.’ He was addressing a sports event of Holy Cross Higher Secondary School in Dimapur on Wednesday, March 15.
Addressing the gathering, the police commissioner pointed to the rapid strides that the society had been experiencing. The old is being replaced by the new in an instant, he said. This generation is an era of creative destruction, Jamir said. During such a turbulent and changing times, education is the only hope for the society; hope that will give power of deliberation, developing the capacity to understand, and the capacity to interpret human behaviour, the police official said.
Also, Jamir spoke about the strength and ability of the differently-able. Every child has a gift and the school is one place where they can discover their abilities ‘by spending more time in reading, studying or participate in different curricular activities like sports,’ he said. He cited the example of Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar ‘whose eye side moves a little faster than any other human’ as was reported by some American scientists and football star David Beckham ‘who has the ability to deliver an accurate pass even while playing.’ Their gifts made them more unique than the others, the police officer said. Saying that unique qualities may be found among them too if they introspect, he encouraged the students to find the God-gifted talents in their-selves.
The chief guest remarked, “the sum of the whole is more important than the sum in one.’ He encouraged the students to work together as a team, to be compassionate and to develop the spirit of working together.
