Dimapur, June 8 (EMN): Taking consideration of the appeal made by the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU), Minister for Higher & Technical Education Temjen Imna Along has assured to for arranging additional seats in the next session, in which he also betted on asking special quota for Nagaland towards the requirement of MBBS and BDS seats.
The minister is stated to have assured this during the meeting with ANCSU on June 7 at his official residence.
According to a press release received from the union secretaries on Friday, the minister explained the initiations of the department and the government in regard to the representation submitted by the ANCSU seeking additional seats for MBBS and BDS and assured for all possible initiations.
Taking strong exception in the past years where the department and government failed to meet the needs of the aspiring MBBS and BDS students, the ANCSU apprised the minister in acquiring seat under NEC.
The union members also highlighted the issues such as Kohima Science College land encroachment, PMS scholarship and other related matters concerning the students’ community.
Keeping in view of accountability and transparency, the minister highlighted some of the state government initiatives like implementing biometric attendances for the staffs in colleges by this year and students in the following year, proper drinking water facilities, library enhancement, encyclopedia access to all subjects, sponsorship of 50 students by ALS for aspiring civil service candidates which are some of the government in-progress initiations for the students.
