
Kohima, Feb. 28 (EMN): The five-day foundation training on basic statistical tools for data analysis for statistical staff during 2019-20 concluded on Friday. The training programme, which started on February 24, was organised by the Economics and Statistics department of Nagaland government.
According to a press release received here on Friday, the resource persons for the training programme were four lecturers from Kohima Science College Jotsoma (Autonomous) – Dr. Seikh Farek Ahmed, Md Jakir Ali, Dr. Pallab Changkakoti and Rovila Jinger -- along with joint director of Economic and Statistics department Neidilhou Angami, and Economics and Statistics officer David Khutso.
The resource persons spoke on varied topics like “measure of central tendencies, sampling techniques, stratified random sampling, testing of hypothesis, systematic and cluster sampling, Z-test and T-test, identification of data for survey, data collection and tabulation, measures of dispersion, wholesale and retail index number, correlation and regression analysis etc”.
The update informed that director Economics and Statistics department Y Sacheo Ovung emphasised on the need to conducting regular training for the officers and staff of the department in order to enhance their skill. He also encouraged the trainees to utilise the knowledge gained during the training in carrying out the statistical works.
Altogether, 40 officials of the department attended the training, the press release stated. A farewell dinner for the retiring Commissioner and Secretary of Economics & Statistics department, Kelie Zeliang, was also held during the valedictory function of the training programme.
