Dimapur, March 19
With an aim to sensitize the institutions about environmental issues and activities, the teachers and students, members of eco-clubs of schools in Dimapur interacted with Forest officials on March 18. The orientation program was conducted in the Forest office complex Dimapur for eco-club schools under the Dimapur Forest Division.
The programme was attended by the representatives and delegates from 84 schools.
During the programme, the teacher representatives of eco-clubs from the schools were taught about various topics by the officers of the division.
Chumukedima Range In-charge Dr. Sentitula, IFS addressed the event and delivered a discourse about the causes of environmental problems. ACF of Dimapur Range in-charge Tokaho broached the issue of natural disasters and the role that can be played by the eco-clubs,
The participants also contributed their opinions about the importance of documentation of all the eco-club activities under Dimapur. It can be used as an information exchange and in building a common platform between members and the department, they said.
The orientation program was followed by sanctioning of token seed money of Rs.2, 500 to each eco-club school.
The funds were provided by the Ministry of Environment & Forests and informed all the registered eco-club schools to collect the seed money within this month.
