Dimapur, Feb. 1 (EMN): As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Echungren cluster level federation (ECLF), Aitepyong circle, under BMMU NSRLM Changpang block, conducted its 1st annual general Body meeting in its office on January 29 with Dory Yanthan, district fishery officer of Wokha, as special guest.
Speaking at the programmme, Dory Yanthan was delighted to note the women excelling in many ways and encouraged them to continue with their good deeds especially on the plantation drive. Stating that NSRLM has been helping the women community in many ways, she advised them to avail those opportunities and contribute to the society.
She also thanked the men folk for allowing their wives and daughters to be part of many organisations and requested them to give more opportunities to the women as they could play vital role in the present society. She also encouraged the SHG members to approach her anytime if they need trainings on mushroom cultivation and fish pickle making to uplift their economy.
She also stated that any product should have a good quality labelling/packaging to find good market. She further encouraged the women to unite and work together and help others for equitable growth.
Also speaking on the occasion, Mhathung Odyuo, VCC of Akuk Old, encouraged all members and leaders to respect each other and maintain transparency. He also called upon the women to be careful while fulfilling their assigned works.
He also thanked NSRLM under Rural Development department for investing in terms of cash, materials and schemes. He further urged the members to maintain transparency in order to avoid misunderstanding within themselves, families and villages etc.
Meanwhile, the ADPM of Wokha Samuel Kithan informed that ECLF consisted of four villages with four VLO and 44 self help groups. Stating that ECLF would not be able to function on its own without proper planning and innovative ideas, he encouraged the members to cooperate with each other and be sincere in their assigned works.
The BPM BMMU of Changpang, Myingthungo Ezung, advised the members to unite and do things together with proper planning and requested every member to participate during the business hour and share their views and opinions to be taken up in the coming years. He thanked the special guest for always being available and supportive to the community.
An update from ECLF stated that Zajano Kikon, official from Longsa SHG from Mekokla, and Thungchano Humtsoe, secretary of Nangti Valley SHG from Akuk Old, shared their success stories during the programme.
Besides the officials from NSRLM, a total of 220 SHG members, 50 stakeholders from Akuk Old, Mekokla, Aitepyong and Akuk New attended the programme.
