Dimapur, March 29 (EMN): Election Commission of India (ECI) has appointed DD Goel, ex-IRS, as special expenditure observer in Nagaland for the upcoming elections.
The Commission stated that the special expenditure observer would be required to watch the conduct of elections in the state with special emphasis on controlling and curbing the abuse of money power in consultation with the state Chief Election Officer (CEO) and other officers of the state as well as other election authorities as deemed appropriate.
CEO, Abhijit Sinha, informed that DD Goel would arrive in Nagaland on April 1 and hold a meeting with the nodal officers of the state associated with election expenditure monitoring on the same day.
Earlier during the day, the CEO visited DDK Kohima and gave a talk on election preparedness.
