Dimapur, March 25 (EMN): Mokokchung zone of Food Safety organised a programme on ‘Eat right campus,’ an initiative of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) at IDSP hall of the IMDH on March 25.
An update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Mokokchung, stated that the programme was chaired by Watisenla Jamir, DCM, while the keynote was delivered by Dr. Ayangla Saku, DPO (UIP & RCH).
Stating that malnutrition affects all age groups and society, Dr. Saku informed that the ‘Eat right campus’ movement was launched to make people aware of food safety and nutrition.
Chubayangla, nursing tutor of School of Nursing, made a powerpoint presentation on nutrition and health, nutrition deficiencies, precaution measures and relation of nutrition to health. The presentation was based on “Eat safe, eat healthy, balance diet and eat sustainable.’
Also speaking on the occasion, Bendanglasenla Ao Longkumer, chemist of SPHC, Kohima, explained the process of food safety based on FSSAI. She also made a brief statement on adulteration of food, ill effects of eating inappropriate food. She added that food safety aims at bringing about a good and healthy society.
Merenlemba, designated officer of Food Safety Mokokchung Zone, delivered the vote of thanks.
