DIMAPUR — The Eastern Nagaland Sumi Students’ Union (ENSSU) concluded the second phase of its official tour for the 2024–26 tenure from June 10 to the 13th under its jurisdiction.
According to an update, the union visited all government-aided schools and offices during the tour and noted that some teachers did not remain at their posting or perform their duties despite repeated appeals.
The union warned all teachers to be stationed at their posting within one week, and if any teachers are found defaulting, they will face consequences through legal procedures.
The ENSSU mentioned that during its visit, the union witnessed that the administrative officers posted at Seyochung ADC Headquarters and Sitimi town EAC Headquarters were out of station, with only a few supporting staff at the ADC office in Seyochung performing their duties.
The ENSSU reported that the Sitimi EAC office was locked and not functioning under the responsible authority. Despite repeated appeals over the past three years to appoint an EAC at the Sitimi town EAC Headquarters, no action has been taken.
It appealed to the chief minister, who is also the minister in charge of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, to consider the request and appoint an EAC at Sitimi town at the earliest.

Alleging that despite many appeals from the general public, the concerned officer has failed to perform their duties within the stipulated time, knowing the condition of the people in the Sitimi and Seyochung areas, the union also warned the officer to be stationed and perform duties without delay.
Furthermore, the establishments at Seyochung town government-aided offices, such as SDEO (Education), SDEO (Agriculture), and SDO (Soil), showed similar conditions. The same was witnessed at Sitimi town, where the Block Development Office, Child Development Project Office, and Veterinary Dispensary were found locked.
The union expressed satisfaction to see all medical establishments in Sitimi and Seyochung functioning according to government guidelines. Meanwhile, the union was dismayed to witness the halt of the under-construction medical staff quarters by the concerned contractor over the past three years.
ENSSU requested the concerned department to take legal action against the contractors and urged them to complete the work at the earliest before the union takes its own course of action.
The union also inspected the ongoing project under Lighthouse NECTAR at Government High School, Sitimi Town, and discovered that construction had been halted by the contractors due to financial issues. ENSSU appealed to the department to release the due payments for timely completion within the stipulated timeframe as specified in the norms.
It also urged M/S 3S Infra to deploy properly equipped machinery to avoid any hindrance to the ongoing project.
Furthermore, regarding domestic issues hindering the project, the union warned the concerned contractor to refrain from any such matters that may delay progress.
