- DIMAPUR — The
Eastern Nagaland People's Organisation (ENPO) has called for equal justice and
accountability vis-à-vis the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, and
the Oting massacre that took place in 2021.
- In a statement issued on Sunday, the organisation
acknowledged the government of India’s firm and immediate response to the
Pahalgam attack and appealed for the same sense of justice and urgency to be
extended “to the long-neglected Oting massacre.”
- “The killing of innocent citizens—whether by state or
non-state forces, rich or poor—must be equally condemned, and the same standard
of justice must be applied. The government of India must uphold the
constitutional principle of ‘equality before the law’, and justice must not be
selective or delayed,” the statement read.

- Accordingly, the ENPO outlined a series of demands,
emphasising that the economic background of the victims, whether "affluent
tourists or poor coal miners", should not influence the dignity and
justice they receive.
- Its demands include equal justice for both thems of the
Pahalgam terrorist attack and the Oting massacre; fair compensation regardless
of the economic background of the victims; transparent accountability of the 21
Para SF commandos responsible for the Oting killings; personal visits by the
Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister to pay homage at the mass gravesite;
and improved security.
- “In conclusion, ENPO once again extends its full support to
the government’s firm stand against terrorism and affirms that no innocent
Indians—whether from Kashmir or Nagaland, whether rich tourist or poor
miner—should ever be denied justice.
- “As we mourn the loss of lives in Pahalgam, we cannot let
the memories of Oting fade into silence because death is not replaceable by any
valuable gems on earth,” it stated.
