- DIMAPUR — The
Eastern Nagaland Gaon Burah Union (ENGBU) has appealed for an immediate
ceasefire between the government of India (GoI) and the NSCN-K
(Angmai-Mulatonu) faction.
- In a press release, the union stated, “We strongly and
unequivocally appeal to the government of India and the NSCN-K
(Angmai-Mulatonu) faction to enter into a formal ceasefire agreement without
further delay. The urgency of the situation demands immediate and sincere end
to suffering.”
- The ENGBU asserted its full endorsement and support of the
Nagaland Gaon Bura Federation's call for a ceasefire, terming it an essential
step towards a comprehensive, inclusive, and early political solution to the
long-standing Naga issue.

- The union highlighted the decades of conflict endured by the
Naga people and stressed the need for peace to prevail, particularly in the
Eastern Naga areas. "The grassroots leadership, embodied by the Gaon
Burahs, has always stood for stability, justice, and the wellbeing of the
people.
- “Today, we affirm that we cannot and will not accept further
violence in our lands," the statement read.
- It further appealed to all stakeholders—government of India,
NSCN-K (Angmai-Mulatonu), and all Naga political groups—to rise above narrow
interests and act in the true spirit of Naga unity and reconciliation.
- “We call upon all parties to honour the aspirations of the
Naga people. A ceasefire is not merely a symbolic gesture but a critical and
foundational step towards realising the long-cherished dream of a peaceful and
honourable Naga political solution,” it stated.
