DIMAPUR — The Eastern Naga Students Association (ENSA) has issued a statement urging residents and organisations to exercise caution when providing financial aid or donations to individuals or groups claiming to represent eastern Nagas fleeing the ongoing crisis in Myanmar.

In a press release on Friday, the association noted that there has been an influx of eastern Nagas sheltering in Naga inhabited states like Nagaland, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh. It expressed concern that some individuals and groups are exploiting the situation, particularly the recent conscription law imposed by the junta in Myanmar, and seeking financial aid under the guise of assisting eastern Nagas, “for their own interest and profit.”

Urging individuals and groups not to provide financial aid or donations without the ENSA’s consent, it further warned that any activities carried out by individuals or groups without the knowledge of the association should be stopped immediately.

While expressing appreciation for those who genuinely support eastern Nagas and understand their plight, the ENSA stressed the importance of vigilance and caution to ensure that aid reaches those in need and to prevent any unwanted circumstances that could disrupt the peace and unity among the Naga community.

Further, it clarified that it will not be held responsible for any issues or incidents arising from uninformed donations or activities.
