DIMAPUR — The Eastern Konyak Union (EKU) has alleged that a drone strike by Indian military forces targeted civilians in Khammoi village in the early hours of Monday, prompting protests in the area.
In a press statement, the EKU claimed that the incident occurred around 2:55 am when a drone reportedly dropped inside a thatched house where an elderly man and his grandchild were asleep.
While the device did not explode on impact, the house was completely damaged, and a subsequent explosion occurred outside the house, it added.

Describing the incident as a “violation of human rights,” the union stated that villagers were left traumatised by the “aerial attack,” adding that at least three drone strikes were reported in the area.
Condemning the alleged attack, the EKU, along with Khammoi village council, student bodies and church organisations, organised a public rally at Khammoi ground.
Participants also staged a march from the village’s New Colony area, expressing shock and anger over the incident.
