Eastern Khiamniugan students celebrate 25th anniversary

Chief guest Daw Sandar Minn (4th from right) along with ERKSU officials during its 25th anniversary celebration.[/caption]   Dimapur, Jan. 17: Eastern Region Khiamniungan Students’ Union (ERKSU) has celebrated its 25th anniversary on the theme “Envision for concord existence through education” from January 6 to 8 at Tsonniu village with Member of Parliament, Yangon Region, Daw Sandar Minn as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, Sandar Minn applauded the office bearers for taking the hardship in organising the event. Stating that students play vital role in making the society function smoothly, he advised them not to hesitate in bringing positive changes in the society. He congratulated ERKSU and conveyed best wishes to achieve the golden goal. He also expressed happiness to note that ERKSU is a faithful and trusted students’ organisation. While pointing out that Nagas are gifted with talent in every field, Sandar Minn however said Nagas are somehow little behind others due lack of development. He advised that it is never late if we work together and pursue education with determination. He also urged the students to learn Myanmar language. Informing that government has initiated many schemes for development and to benefit the public, Sandar Minn asked the students to work in coordination with their elected representatives. The inaugural programme was chaired by A Nathan and Kunniu Khiam, while short speeches were delivered by special guests including KTC general secretary, Puchai PM and NSO president Y Khomong. The welcome address was delivered by L Patun, president ERKSU. Special song was presented by Nokyen Shiu, former vocalist of Ehou Keh Band and the invocation was said by pastor Lamnyah and the benediction by pastor Pukha.
