Dimapur, July 12: The ‘East Zone Inter-Sainik Schools Sportsand Co-Curricular Championship 2016-17’ got underway on July 12 at Sainik School Goalpara (SSG) in Assam.
288 cadets participated in the event from Sainik School Imphal in Manipur, Sainik School Punglwa in Nagaland and Sainik School Purulia in West Bengal.Lt Gen Konsam Himalaya Singh also alumni of SSG, gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest, exhorted the participants to put in their best to keep their school flags flying high. The General reminisced
his past years as a cadet at SSG and urged the cadets to exploit every opportunity provided by the school in best possible way and strive hard for excellence in the future.
The tournament includes titles for Football (Juniors & Sub-Juniors), Volleyball, Hockey, Basketball and co-curricular events like English and Hindi Debate, Quiz and varieties of entertainment programme. The closing ceremony is scheduled on July 16.
