Dimapur, April 22 (EMN): East Dimapur GBs’ Association (EDGBA) has ordered closure of all the shops selling liquor within its jurisdiction and stated that such illegal activities would cease to operate with effect from May 1.
An update from the association president Niuto Awomi stated that the decision to this effect was taken during a meeting. It informed that the GBs and village elders would conduct raids and warned that an FIR would be lodged and also file cases against any outlet found selling liquor.
The association also cautioned that house owners who rent out rooms for sale of liquor would equally be held responsible. It added that action would be initiated against such house owners.
Meanwhile, the association has requested the district administration, commissioner of police and Excise department to implement NLTP Act in toto in order to stop such illegal activities once and for all.
The association further made it known that the administration and government would be held responsible in the event of any untoward incidents during its course of actions against those indulging in illegal activities.
