Kohima, March 23 (EMN): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Friday requested citizens of Nagaland to observe 'Earth Hour' on March 24 from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm by shutting down non-essential lights and electrical appliances in their homes.
Underscoring the need to conserve energy, Rio appealed to all to observe the 'Earth Hour' in solidarity with the rest of the world. "This is perhaps the biggest grassroots movement that seeks to solve the problem of global warming, and preserve our planet for the future generations," he stated.
An official notification issued later in the day from the department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change informed that the state will observe Earth Hour on March 24.
