Dimapur, March 23 (EMN): Citizens in Nagaland are urged to be part of the worldwide movement Earth Hour that aspires to engage dialogue and action that remove irresponsible use of energy resources.
A group called the Earth Friendly Generation (EFG) issued a message on Friday appealing to citizens to observe Earth Hour on March 24 from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
The World Wide Fund for Nature’s (WWF) mantra for this year is ‘Give up to give back’—citizens can ‘give up’ a habit as an individual for the environment and help fight energy consumption that affect the community, citizens and the environment in general, the EFG stated.
The group has requested citizens to lend their support to the movement by making simple changes in their everyday life such as giving up a ‘single use’ of plastic, or giving up ‘one degree’ of air conditioning; going the carpool way; giving up excess use of paper; giving up electronic waste such as old mobile phones, laptops or any electronic gadget, among other measures.
“Even giving up something as small as a lower temperature in your office will make your spaces energy efficient and reduce your electricity bills and your footprint on the Earth,” the group stated.
