Dimapur, Dec. 28 (EMN): The 9th Eagles' trophy organised by the Eagles' Club, K. Station got underway at KSU ground, in K. Station village on Dec. 27, under the theme "stepping ahead for a bigger goal".
The tournament which began in 1998 is one of the few consistently held open football tournament in the region and is in its 9th edition. 15 teams are vying for the title in this year's edition of the knockout tournament and the finals will be played on Jan. 3, 2019 at 1 pm.
The tournament kick started with a formal inaugural function with Khekiya Kath Geologist, Directorate of Geology & Mining, govt. of Nagaland as the chief guest.
In the opening match, defending champions, Vanguard FC -Tseminyu defeated SYSC Red Wings 3-0. In the second match P2 Gamers defeated Ohi Warriors B 5-0 while in the third match SYSC Spartans defeated the Legends FC Kandinu through a tiebreaker after a 1-1 draw.
